In this talk, Zach explores the metaphysics of love, and how the more love we give away, the more we have. Human beings long to connect, and the more open our heart is, the happier we will be.

Because it is in giving that we receive, it is in forgiving that we are forgiven, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
– Saint Francis
Admit something: Everyone you see, you say to them, ‘Love me.’
Of course you do not do this out loud, otherwise someone would call the cops.
Still though, think about this, this great pull in us to connect. Why not become the one who lives with a full moon in each eye that is always saying, with that sweet moon language, What every other eye in this world is dying to hear?
-Hafiz
Gamble everything for love, if you are a true human being.
If not, leave this gathering.
Half-heartedness doesn’t reach into majesty.
You set out to find God,
but then you keep stopping for long periods
at mean-spirited roadhouses.
Don’t wait any longer.
— Rumi
In the midst of hate, I found there was, within me, an invincible love. In the midst of tears, I found there was, within me, an invincible smile. In the midst of chaos, I found there was, within me, an invincible calm. I realized, through it all…that in the middle of winter, I finally found that within me there lies an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger—something better, pushing right back.
– Albert Camus
1.33 The mind will be undisturbed if you can cultivate the attitudes of friendliness towards the happy, compassion towards those in pain, delight for those with good fortune and impartiality towards negative people.
– Patanjali
Loving life
and its mysterious source
with all our heart
and all our spirit,
all our senses and strength,
we take upon ourselves these promises:
to care for the earth and those who live upon it,
to pursue justice and peace,
to love with kindness and compassion.
We will teach this to our children
throughout the passage of the day—
as we dwell in our homes and as we go on our journeys,
from the time we rise until the time we fall asleep.
And may our actions be faithful to our words
that our children’s children may live to know:
Truth and kindness have embraced,
peace and justice have kissed and are one.
– Marcia Falk, Jewish Prayers for Daily Life
1 Corinthians 13:1-3
13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails…
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
